SIMS has an illustrious pedigree, originally formed as a joint venture partnership with International Military Services Ltd. a company wholly owned by the British Ministry of Defence, its original mandate was: "To supply and provide construction, installation, management, maintenance, repair, operation and training on military and security projects and the designs related thereto, supply of military clothes and fittings for the purpose of entering in the government tenders, trade of safety and fire fight equipments, electronic, mechanical, electric devices and maintenance."
